While the number of jobs in Texas reached a new record, information from the Texas Labor Market indicated the unemployment rate in Austin increased from April’s 2.5% to 2.7% in May, according to Workforce Solutions Capital Area.

However, data from the Texas Workforce Commission showed the Austin metro unemployment rate remained below Texas’ 3.8% and the overall U.S. rate of 3.4%. The TWC also said the Austin metro gained 1,600 jobs from April to May.
