Unemployment numbers made yet another dramatic swing last month — this time in a positive direction.

The October unemployment rate for the Austin metro dipped to 5.1% with nearly 63,700 people out of work, according to data from the Texas Workforce Commission and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. That compares with a seasonably adjusted jobless rate of 6.3% in September. Prior to that, Austin had seen a steady decline from when the unemployment rate peaked at 12.2% in April.
