Consumers may notice staffing issues when they walk into a restaurant and see a portion of it closed, or while waiting a little longer to be served. The problems afflict longtime Austin eateries such as Kerbey Lane Cafe as well as newcomers to the scene.
Unemployment in the five-county Austin metro fell to 2.7% in March, down from 4.8% a year earlier and a new pandemic low, according to figures released April 15 by Texas Workforce Commission and the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The region added 7,000 jobs from February to March.
