Austin-Area Unemployment Holds Steady in December
AUSTIN – Figures released by the Texas Workforce Commission today show the unemployment rate in the Austin-Round Rock MSA* remained unchanged at 2.7%** from November 2017 to December 2017. The 2.7% unemployment rate represented 30,800 residents seeking employment. The region’s unemployment remained one point below both the Texas (3.7%)** and national (3.9%)** rates.
The Austin-Round Rock MSA collectively added 1,200 jobs in December 2017. The region’s 2.9% annual growth rate represented the collective addition of 30,000 jobs since December 2016.
Further, unemployment in the Capital Area/Travis County*** remained unchanged at 2.6%** from November 2017 to December 2017. The 2.6% unemployment rate represented 18,146 residents seeking employment.
