Subject: Now at APL: Explore careers, free trainings + extra supports – all in one place!

Friends of the Austin community,

Workforce Solutions Capital Area, the non-profit organization that serves as the leadership and governing body for the Austin-Travis County workforce system, is partnering with Austin Public Library (APL) for a new co-location pilot program! This new initiative aims to meet residents where they are and increase ease of access to digital development resources, including workforce development resources. Workforce Solutions Capital Area now has career counselors on-site at Austin Public Library’s Little Walnut Creek and Southeast branches with the goal of expanding to additional locations in 2023 to further assist the community with workforce and career development needs.

The mission of this partnership is to bridge the digital divide between those who have access to computers and internet and those who do not, as well as to promote the library as a local hub of inclusion and a one-stop shop for community resources. Through this partnership, Austin residents will have direct access to no-cost workforce development services such as skills training, job search assistance and unemployment assistance at the two participating Austin Public Library branches.

Additional community partners will also be providing on-site resources at the Little Walnut Creek and Southwest branches through the  program. These partners include the Austin Film Society, Austin Free Net, Austin Urban Technology Movement, Communities for Recovery, Foundation Communities, Goodwill, Housing Authority of Travis County and Indeed.

Services provided by Workforce Solutions Capital Area are available to qualifying Travis County residents.
