WorkReadyAustin provides entry-level job applicants with targeted instruction and validation of the basic workplace skills most desired by local employers.

What is WorkReadyAustin?

The Work Readiness Certificate or WorkReadyAustin is a skills validation and assessment tool designed to help job seekers “verify” work readiness skills – including soft skills – to employers, and in turn, to help employers identify and select the right candidates. For many Austin employers, skills such as teamwork, communication, initiative, and problem-solving are often deemed more important that foundation skills such as reading and math.

Job seekers who satifactorily complete the requirements will be issued WorkReadyAustin certificates, signed by Workforce Solutions and the Austin Human Resource Management Association (AHRMA), that prove to employers that the job seeker has been exposed to and mastered both important Personality/Soft Skills and Foundational Skills.

WorkReadyAustin Process

The WorkReadyAustin certificate program  has two components:

·         Part 1: Work Readiness or “Soft Skills”

Complete all sections with 80% or higher

§  Communication Effectively

§  Conveying Professionalism

§  Promoting Teamwork & Collaboration

§  Thinking Critically & Solving Problems

Attend two in-person sessions

Participants who complete Part 1 will have met the requirements for a Basic WorkReadyAustin Certificate and can move forward to Part 2.

·         Part 2: Foundational Skills

Complete all sections at Career Profiled Level (assessment or post-test)

§  Applied Math (Levels 1-6)

§  Reading for Information (Levels 1-7)

§  Locating Information (Levels 1-7)

Participants who complete Part 2 at the required career interest profile level will receive a WorkReadyAustin Metal Certificate and can enroll in Occupational Training.
