If you've lost your job due to Hurricane Harvey, you may be eligible to receive no-cost services to help you return to work.

Disaster Unemployment Assistance

Workers who have lost jobs and self-employed individuals who have been unable to work due to Hurricane Harvey may apply for Disaster Unemployment Assistance (DUA).

Applications can be taken online at ui.texasworkforce.org or by calling a TWC Tele-Center Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. at 800.939.6631. Individuals should specify that their applications are related to the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.

When you apply for disaster unemployment assistance please have the following available:

    • Last employer's business name, address and phone number
    • First and last dates (month, day and year) you worked
    • Number of hours worked and pay rate
    • Daytime telephone number
    • A telephone number where we can reach you or leave a message

  • Current listings and referrals to companies that are hiring
  • Workshops on resume writing, interviewing techniques, and strategies for conducting a successful job search
  • Supportive services to assist with your job search
  • Career and labor market information – Job trends, wage information, requirements, etc.
  • Opportunities to meet local employers at Hiring Events
  • Information and referral to other community resources

In addition, each of our three Career Centers has a public resource room where you'll have access to:

  • Computers with internet access
  • Online job banks
  • Online career and job search resources
  • Copiers and printers
  • Telephones
  • Fax machines
  • Other self-help resources to assist you with your job search
