Communications Director

Position Summary: The Communications Director develops and leads the comprehensive communication plan focused on Workforce Solutions Capital Area as a significant contributor to and leader in regional, statewide, and national talent preparation and exchange systems. The Communications Director is a passionate promoter of Workforce Solutions Capital Area, constantly looking for leverage in different types of capital: community and workforce partners, media and related exposure, and the talent of the staff and Board of Directors. The Communications Director is responsible for both managing the communications and traditional media outreach in affiliation with the Texas Workforce Commission and ensuring the successful execution of strong and productive communications related to the Board’s Strategic Plan. The Communications Director’s 2020 goals will include leading the overhaul of our organization’s website, with support from contractor. The Director will have a full-time staff member reporting to him or her who is responsible for social media, web presence, and events logistics management. Reports to the CEO.

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited four (4)-year college or university with major course work in journalism, marketing, public relations, or other relevant field. Experience performing the duties described above may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis. Five (5) – 10 years of demonstrated experience in communication, workforce and/or educational institution. Demonstrated ability to build, lead, and mentor staff to function as a unit. Demonstrated experience as a strategic thinker.

Senior Controller

Position Summary: The Controller leads the daily finance operations including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and grant/contract management. This role ensures that Workforce Solutions - Capital Area has the systems and procedures in place to support effective and efficient business practices. The Controller works closely with all leaders and their staff, not only to educate them regarding finance and accounting procedures but also to explore how the finance function can support day-to-day operations. In addition, this role will partner with senior leadership, HR Manager, and Business Manager to enhance and better integrate finance, HR, and IT functions.

Education and Experience:

  • Seven to ten (7 - 10) years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to management.
  • Experience with automating processes.
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree; CPA and/or MBA preferred.
